BJP Chief Nitin Nabin Urges People To Light ‘Ashirvaad Ka Diya’ For PM Modi

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Nabin has urged people across India to light an ‘Ashirvaad ka diya’ (lamp of blessings) at their homes on September 17, marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. He called on people to light the lamp between 6 pm and 7 pm and pray for Modi’s long life and good health. Nabin also linked the occasion to what he described as the Prime Minister’s 25-year journey in public service and nation-building.

In a post on X, Nabin said “Public Service for National Service” has been the core motto of Modi’s life. He described the Prime Minister’s 25-year public service journey as unprecedented and said his leadership had provided India with a new direction and greater strength. Nabin also said the country was progressing towards the goal of “Developed India @ 2047” through the collective resolve associated with Modi’s leadership.

Nabin appealed to people to participate in the lamp-lighting initiative as a gesture of goodwill towards the country’s continued progress and Modi’s leadership. He said the ‘Ashirvaad ka diya’ would allow people to convey their best wishes while offering prayers for the Prime Minister’s health and longevity. The BJP leader’s appeal comes as the party prepares to mark Modi’s birthday with activities centred on his public service record and government initiatives.

In a separate video message, Nabin recalled the challenges he said India faced when Modi began guiding the country’s leadership. According to Nabin, the Prime Minister introduced new schemes, plans and a broader vision while encouraging young people to view challenges as opportunities. He also highlighted initiatives aimed at women’s economic empowerment, particularly the Lakhpati Didi programme, which he said was helping women become financially self-reliant and contribute to the country’s development.

Nabin also referred to the government’s approach to tackling Naxalism, presenting its elimination as one of the major objectives pursued under Modi’s leadership. He claimed that Naxalism had been abolished at its roots and said India was “Naxal-free” in 2026. His remarks formed part of his broader assessment of the government’s record and the direction he believes the country has taken under Modi.

The BJP president’s appeal for the nationwide lamp-lighting programme combines the Prime Minister’s birthday celebrations with a call for prayers and public participation. People have been asked to light the lamps at home during the specified evening hour on September 17, while the BJP continues to highlight Modi’s years in public life and the government’s development and welfare initiatives.
