BJP Chief: Bihar to Punish Congress for Insulting PM Modi

Nadda slams opposition’s mindset, hails Bihar’s progress.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and Union Health Minister JP Nadda launched a scathing attack on the Congress and its allies, accusing them of a “filthy mindset” for orchestrating insults against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother. Speaking at a public function in Patna on Saturday, Nadda vowed that the people of Bihar would deliver a “befitting reply” to the opposition in the upcoming state assembly elections, signaling a charged political battle ahead.

The controversy stems from an incident during the Congress-led ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga last month, where derogatory remarks were allegedly made about Modi’s late mother, Heeraben. Nadda also pointed to a recent AI-generated video shared by the Congress on social media, which he claimed further exposed their malicious intent. “Abuses were hurled at Modi’s mother by someone instigated by the Congress and its allies. This confirms their filthy mindset,” Nadda declared, rallying BJP supporters to make the issue a focal point in the polls.

Nadda also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of inconsistency in alleging voter list manipulation in Maharashtra. “Sometimes he claims 70 lakh voters were added, other times it’s one crore. He’s never consistent,” Nadda said, dismissing Gandhi’s objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls as baseless.

Reflecting on his childhood in Bihar, Nadda contrasted the state’s “dark” past under the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) with its current progress under the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Taking a dig at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, he remarked, “Those who never reached class 10 cannot appreciate Bihar’s double-digit growth under the NDA.” He accused the RJD of embodying “Rangdaari, Jungleraj, and Dadagiri” (extortion, lawlessness, and bullying), alleging that during Lalu Prasad’s tenure, corruption and state-supported crime forced mass migration from Bihar.

Under the leadership of Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Nadda claimed, Bihar is witnessing unprecedented development. “Before 2005, there was appeasement, corruption, and crime. Today, Bihar is on the path to progress,” he said, highlighting infrastructure improvements, job creation, and economic growth. He also praised Modi’s national achievements, noting that India has risen from the 11th to the fifth-largest economy and is poised to become the third-largest globally. Initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana have lifted 25 crore people out of poverty, while 14 crore households now have tap water and 4 crore poor families have received housing, he added.

Later today, Nadda is set to inaugurate a hospital in Saran district, reinforcing the BJP’s focus on healthcare and development in Bihar. As the state gears up for elections, Nadda’s fiery rhetoric underscores the BJP’s strategy to rally voters by portraying the opposition as disrespectful and disconnected, while highlighting the NDA’s transformative governance in Bihar.
