#BiharPolls: Prashant Kishor Takes Sharp Aim at Tejashwi Yadav, Questions His 'Retirement Plans'

Prashant Kishor mocks Tejashwi Yadav's 'tall' promises, questions post-election plans in Bihar poll rally.

On the final day of campaigning for Bihar’s fiercely contested Assembly elections, Jan Suraaj (JSP) founder Prashant Kishor launched a scathing attack on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav for what he termed as ‘tall’ and unrealistic poll promises. Speaking at a rally in Bhojpur, Kishor mockingly asked Tejashwi to announce his "post-retirement plans," asserting that the RJD leader was likely to lose the elections and was "saying anything" to woo voters.

Tejashwi Yadav, meanwhile, addressed a press conference highlighting key promises from the Mahagathbandhan manifesto titled 'Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran', released on October 28. He reiterated pledges including the transfer of ₹30,000 annually to women’s accounts under the proposed 'Mai Bahin Maan Yojana', economic relief during inflationary times, and Rs 2,000 monthly support for Jeevika Didis as part of the World Bank-aided Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project. These measures aimed to empower women and provide social welfare across Bihar.

Highlighting government employees, Tejashwi promised postings within 70 kilometers of their home cadre to avoid hardship. The Mahagathbandhan manifesto also vows to pass a law within 20 days of government formation ensuring at least one government job for every family—one of many ambitious commitments seeking to address Bihar’s longstanding challenges of unemployment and migration.

The electoral battle is primarily between the ruling NDA coalition—comprising BJP, JD(U), HAM(S), and LJP (RV)—and the Mahagathbandhan alliance, which includes RJD, Congress, VIP, and left parties. Additionally, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj is contesting all 243 seats, complicating the political dynamics ahead of the first phase of polling scheduled for November 6, with results due on November 14.

As polls close and results loom, the contest remains tightly fought with welfare promises and political critiques intensifying. Kishor’s barbs at Tejashwi underscore the high-stakes battles and personal rivalries shaping Bihar’s crucial elections this year.
