Bihar Power Transmission Wins Two Top Honours at Powerline Trans-Tech India Awards 2025
Bihar emerges as Eastern Region's undisputed leader in power transmission growth.
The Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL) has secured two top honours at the prestigious Powerline Trans-Tech India Awards 2025, held at Yashobhoomi India International Convention and Expo Centre in Delhi. The awards recognise outstanding achievements in transmission infrastructure development based on verified data from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Power Finance Corporation (PFC), and state utilities.
BSPTCL clinched first place in the Eastern Region for adding the highest quantum of transmission lines and transformation capacity at 220 kV and above voltage levels over the past three years. The company commissioned 2,018 circuit kilometres of new transmission lines and augmented transformation capacity by 5,260 MVA, significantly bolstering the state's grid reliability.
Rahul Kumar (IAS), Managing Director of BSPTCL, described the twin victories as a testament to the organisation’s technical excellence and unwavering commitment. He emphasised that strengthening transmission infrastructure and delivering uninterrupted power supply to every corner of Bihar remain the company’s core priorities.

Once labelled a power-deficit state, Bihar has transformed its electricity landscape with near-universal village electrification and among the fastest consumer service standards in the country. These national accolades underscore a decade-long turnaround under focused leadership and systematic capacity expansion.
Supported by the Ministry of Power, the Trans-Tech India Awards drew over 2,500 participants this year, making BSPTCL’s double triumph a landmark acknowledgment of Bihar’s rising stature in India’s power transmission sector.
