Bihar Man Arrested in Kanpur for Kidnapping Infant from Delhi Girlfriend

Bihar man arrested at Kanpur railway station for kidnapping one-year-old child from Delhi after affair dispute.

A Bihar man, Hemant Kumar, was arrested on Friday night by a joint team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) at Kanpur Central railway station for allegedly kidnapping a one-year-old child from Delhi. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the child’s mother in Delhi.

According to SN Patidar, RPF in charge at Kanpur Central, Hemant was in a relationship with a married woman from Delhi. He reportedly traveled to Delhi on Friday to ask her to accompany him to Bihar. When she refused, he allegedly took her infant child and fled, claiming he was buying a toy for the child.

The Delhi Police provided vital inputs for the search operation, including Hemant’s photograph and description. Based on these details, the railway police traced the accused aboard the Vikramshila Express arriving in Kanpur and apprehended him along with the child.

During questioning, Hemant reportedly admitted to taking the child after the woman refused to come with him. Police officials said they traced his movements through CCTV footage and mobile phone location data, enabling a swift recovery.

Both the Delhi Police and the infant’s family were informed immediately about the child’s safe rescue. The mother and family members arrived in Kanpur on Saturday to reunite with the child. Hemant Kumar has been taken into custody and is being questioned further.

Authorities emphasized that the coordinated effort between Delhi and Kanpur police teams, along with the railway security personnel, was crucial in preventing harm to the child and ensuring a safe recovery. The case is now under further investigation.
