Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Promotes Communal Harmony With Eid Prayers in Patna
Nitish Kumar visits Patna Sufi shrines, prays for peace and communal harmony on Eid.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited several prominent Sufi shrines across Patna on Saturday, extending Eid al-Fitr greetings and promoting communal harmony, love, and brotherhood. His visits underscored the spirit of inclusivity during the festival, with prayers offered for peace and prosperity in the state.
Kumar began at Khanqah Mujibiya in Phulwari Sharif, where he met Sajjada Nashin Syed Shah Ayatullah Qadri, sought his blessings, and conveyed Eid greetings. He then proceeded to Khanqah-e-Munemia at Mittan Ghat, meeting Syed Shah Shamimuddin Ahmed Munami, where both offered prayers for the well-being of Bihar’s citizens. Continuing his tour, the Chief Minister visited Khanqah Bargah-e-Ishq, greeting Sajjada Nashin Syed Shah Khwaja Amir Shahid and interacting with devotees. During the visits, he partook in traditional Eid offerings, including sewai and dry fruits.
The visits highlighted Nitish Kumar’s commitment to social harmony and his respect for Bihar’s spiritual heritage. Accompanying him were several dignitaries, including Rural Works Minister Ashok Choudhary, JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, MLA Shyam Rajak, MLC Sanjay Kumar Singh, District Magistrate Tyagarajan S.M., and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K. Sharma.

Notably, the Chief Minister did not attend the traditional Eid prayers at Gandhi Maidan, a site he has visited almost every year since assuming office in 2005. Instead, his son Nishant Kumar attended the gathering under tight security, drawing significant attention and sparking speculation about potential political implications for the state.
Observers noted that while the festival remained a celebration of devotion and communal harmony, Nishant Kumar’s presence at Gandhi Maidan added a new political dimension to Bihar’s Eid celebrations. Analysts suggest this could signal a generational shift or a strategic move within the state’s political landscape.
Nitish Kumar’s Eid visits, combining spiritual observance with messages of unity, reflected his continued engagement with Bihar’s diverse communities, even as evolving political developments drew additional attention during the festival.
