Bihar Cabinet Expansion Expected On May 6 After NDA Leadership Consultations
Bihar Cabinet expansion is expected on May 6 after CM Samrat Choudhary’s meetings with NDA leaders in Delhi.
A major political development is expected in Bihar as the State Cabinet expansion is likely to take place on May 6, following Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s return from a key visit to New Delhi. The Chief Minister had held a series of meetings with senior National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, to finalise discussions related to the Cabinet reshuffle.
According to political sources, the NDA leadership has reportedly cleared the final list of ministers, clearing the way for the long-anticipated expansion. Although an official announcement is still awaited, preparations have already begun at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony are underway. Security measures, stage setups, and administrative logistics are being coordinated ahead of what is expected to be a significant political event in the state.
The proposed Cabinet expansion is expected to focus on a careful balance of caste and regional representation, along with efforts to include both experienced leaders and new entrants. Party insiders suggest that special emphasis is being placed on youth participation and women’s representation, reflecting a broader strategy aimed at strengthening governance and expanding political outreach across Bihar’s diverse electorate. The reshuffle is also being seen as an effort to consolidate the ruling alliance’s position ahead of future political challenges.

A Cabinet meeting has been scheduled for 5 p.m. on May 6, which is expected to be the first meeting involving newly inducted ministers. This meeting is likely to set the tone for the new administrative team and outline governance priorities following the expansion. Political observers view the timing as significant, indicating that the leadership wants a quick transition to ensure continuity in governance and policy execution.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Choudhary also expressed condolences over a tragic road accident in Rohtas district that claimed five lives earlier on Monday. The incident occurred in Mathiya village under Dinara police station limits when a speeding container truck collided with a pickup van and a bus. The Chief Minister announced an ex gratia compensation of ₹4 lakh for each deceased victim’s family and directed officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured, calling the incident deeply tragic.
As Bihar prepares for the Cabinet reshuffle, the development is being closely watched as a key political recalibration within the state government. With the NDA aiming to reinforce administrative efficiency and political balance, the expansion is expected to play a crucial role in shaping governance priorities and strengthening the ruling coalition’s organisational structure in the months ahead.
