Bihar Boy Killed After Dispute Over Plucking Lemons, Police Probe Underway

Police are probing fatal assault on Bihar boy over lemon plucking dispute.

A teenage boy allegedly died after being beaten by an elderly man over a dispute involving lemons plucked from a tree in Bihar’s Nalanda district, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place in Sakrawa village and triggered tension in the area, prompting the deployment of police personnel to maintain order.

According to local residents, the confrontation began after the boy reportedly plucked lemons from a tree belonging to the accused. What started as a verbal dispute soon escalated into violence, resulting in severe injuries to the teenager. Authorities said the exact sequence of events is still being investigated.

Bharat Soni, Superintendent of Police of Nalanda, said police are examining all aspects of the case to determine the precise cause behind the boy’s death. He added that the victim’s body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide further clarity on the injuries sustained.

Senior district officials, including the district magistrate, visited the village following the incident to assess the situation and oversee the investigation. Police said emotions ran high among villagers after news of the death spread, leading to protests and resistance when law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene.

According to officials, police had to use mild force to disperse agitated residents after the situation began to deteriorate. Authorities later stated that the situation had been brought under control and additional security measures were put in place to prevent any further unrest in the village.

Police have assured residents that strict action will be taken against those found responsible after the investigation is completed. The case has drawn attention locally due to the alleged trivial nature of the dispute that preceded the fatal assault, with villagers demanding swift justice for the victim.
