Big Push to Clean Yamuna! New Urban River Plan Promises Real Action - Not Just Paperwork.

The new Urban River Plan commits to actionable steps for cleaning the Yamuna River, moving beyond mere documentation.

In a bold move to rescue the heavily polluted Yamuna River, the Urban River Management Plan (URMP) was officially launched in Delhi on Sunday — a step that promises more than just paperwork.

Spearheaded by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) in collaboration with the National Institute of Urban Affairs and the Delhi government, the URMP aims to bring science, strategy, and community into one powerful framework to clean and rejuvenate the Yamuna.

“This must not remain a static policy report,” warned NMCG Director General Rajeev Kumar Mital. “It should be a live document — constantly guiding real action with scientific insights, risk-based planning, and strong public participation.”
