Big Opportunity For Nursing Graduates as AIIMS Announces 2,218 Vacancies
AIIMS invites applications for 2,218 Nursing Officer vacancies nationwide.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has begun the application process for the Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET) 11 to fill 2,218 Nursing Officer vacancies across AIIMS New Delhi and other participating AIIMS institutions as well as government medical colleges. Eligible candidates can submit their online applications through the official AIIMS examination portal until August 13, 2026. The recruitment drive offers appointments to Group B Nursing Officer posts under Level 7 of the Pay Matrix.
According to the official notification, the recruitment is open to candidates who meet the prescribed educational and professional eligibility criteria. Applicants must possess either a BSc (Hons) Nursing, BSc Nursing, or Post-Basic BSc Nursing degree from an institute or university recognised by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) or the State Nursing Council. They must also be registered as a Nurse and Midwife with the State Nursing Council or the Indian Nursing Council. Candidates holding a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) are also eligible, provided they have completed two years of work experience in a hospital with at least 50 beds after obtaining the qualification and completing the required registration.
AIIMS has clarified that the mandatory two years of experience for GNM candidates will only be considered valid if it has been acquired after completion of the course, declaration of the final result, and registration with the State Nursing Council or the Indian Nursing Council. The institution said these conditions are mandatory for determining eligibility and candidates must ensure that all supporting documents are available during the recruitment process.

The age limit for applicants has been fixed between 18 and 30 years for all AIIMS institutions participating in NORCET 11. However, age relaxation will be provided to eligible candidates in accordance with the recruitment rules applicable to the respective participating institutes. AIIMS has stated that August 13, 2026, the last date for submission of online applications, will be treated as the cut-off date for calculating the age of candidates.
The recruitment process will be conducted through a Computer-Based Test (CBT) at examination centres across the country. AIIMS is expected to release the admit cards on September 9, 2026, allowing candidates to download their hall tickets from the official examination website before the examination. Detailed information regarding the examination schedule, test centres and other instructions will be made available through the official portal.
NORCET serves as a common eligibility test for recruitment to Nursing Officer positions in AIIMS institutions and participating government healthcare organisations across India. Interested candidates are advised to carefully read the official notification, verify their eligibility, and complete the online application process before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues. AIIMS has also advised applicants to regularly check the official examination website for updates regarding the recruitment process, admit cards and examination schedule.
