"Big Boost to Delhi Healthcare: 7 ICU Hospitals to Become Super Speciality Centres, Says CM Rekha Gupta"

Delhi to upgrade 7 ICU hospitals into super speciality centres, boosting specialised healthcare access.

In a major healthcare upgrade, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced plans to transform seven ICU hospitals—originally built during the COVID-19 crisis—into full-fledged super speciality hospitals.

Speaking at the inauguration of Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital in Model Town on Monday, CM Gupta outlined the government's vision to modernize critical healthcare infrastructure in the capital.

“These seven ICU hospitals, whose foundations were laid during the pandemic, will now serve as specialized treatment centres. One might focus on cancer care, another on advanced maternity services, and yet another on kidney ailments and dialysis,” she said.

The Chief Minister also urged private hospitals to join the Ayushman Bharat Yojana to extend healthcare access to more citizens.

Highlighting the need for better public awareness, she said people often go to major institutions like AIIMS for minor issues. “A simple cough or cold can be treated at your nearby Arogya Mandir. Super speciality hospitals should be reserved for more complex cases,” she added.

This announcement signals a significant shift in Delhi’s post-pandemic health strategy, aiming for specialized, decentralized, and accessible care for all.
