Bhupendra Patel Visits Lusadiya Dham, Shamlaji Temple On Guru Purnima

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel observed Guru Purnima on Wednesday by visiting Lusadiya Dham, a prominent tribal pilgrimage site in Aravalli district, and the Shamlaji Temple, where he offered prayers for the well-being of the people of the state. The Chief Minister participated in religious ceremonies alongside saints, devotees, and local residents, highlighting the significance of the Guru-Shishya tradition celebrated across the country on the occasion of Guru Purnima.

At Lusadiya Dham in Shamlaji taluka, Patel paid tribute at the Samadhi of revered tribal saint Surmaldas and offered prayers at the Dhuno before the idol of Ramdev Pir associated with the saint. He also honoured the sixth-generation successor saints of Surmaldas by presenting them with shawls as part of the Guru Purnima celebrations. In return, the saints presented the Chief Minister with a portrait of Saint Surmaldas and conveyed their blessings.

During the event, Lusadiya Dham Trust President D.M. Bhoi narrated the history of Saint Surmaldas and the significance of the Samadhi. The Chief Minister interacted with saints and devotees gathered at the pilgrimage site and joined tribal families in the devotional celebrations. Every year, thousands of devotees from tribal regions of Gujarat and neighbouring Rajasthan visit Lusadiya Dham on Guru Purnima to pay homage to Saint Surmaldas and seek the blessings of the saints.

Later, Patel visited the Shamlaji Temple, where he performed traditional rituals and prayed for the holistic development, peace, prosperity, happiness, and welfare of the people of Gujarat. The visit formed part of his Guru Purnima observances, reflecting the cultural and spiritual importance of the festival, which honours teachers and spiritual guides across India.

While travelling to Shamlaji, the Chief Minister briefly halted his convoy in Lusadiya village and stepped away from official protocol to interact with local residents. He met schoolchildren gathered along the roadside and encouraged them, while young girls observing Gauri Vrat welcomed him with decorated kalash. Minister of State for Tribal Development and Food and Civil Supplies P.C. Baranda accompanied Patel during the visits, along with former minister and MLA Bhikhusinh Parmar, MLA Dhavalsinh Zala, and former MP Deepsinh Rathod.
