Bengaluru Crash: Speeding Truck Flips, Claims Lives of Driver and Operator
Container carrying drilling machinery overturns near Uraganadoddi Road; driver and operator dead.
Two men were killed and four others critically injured when a speeding container truck carrying heavy road-cable drilling machinery overturned near Uraganadoddi Road in Jigani police limits on Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. as the vehicle was en route from Bommasandra to Harohalli with five labourers aboard.
The deceased have been identified as Srinivas (26), the truck driver from Andhra Pradesh, and Shreeman (25), a cable drilling machine operator from Jharkhand. According to police, Srinivas lost control while negotiating a sharp turn at high speed, causing the heavily loaded container to topple. Both victims were trapped beneath the machinery and died instantly at the scene.
The four surviving labourers, all critically injured, were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities have not released their identities pending family notification. The truck was transporting industrial drilling equipment for a work assignment in Harohalli when the tragedy struck.

Jigani police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident. Preliminary reports cite excessive speed and possible overloading as contributing factors. Traffic on Uraganadoddi Road was disrupted for several hours as emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage and restore normalcy.
This incident highlights growing concerns over road safety for industrial transport in Bengaluru’s outskirts, where heavy vehicles frequently navigate narrow and poorly maintained roads under tight schedules.
