Bengaluru Cop Tries Speaking Hindi to Comfort Stranded Bikers, Arranges Fuel

A Bengaluru officer arranged fuel for stranded bikers and tried speaking Hindi to comfort them.

A Bengaluru police officer’s act of kindness has drawn widespread appreciation online after he helped two stranded bikers near the Basavanagudi Police Station. The incident, shared in a now-viral Reddit post, described how the officer arranged petrol for the duo when their motorcycle ran out of fuel late at night. Social media users have since lauded the gesture as an example of compassionate policing in everyday situations.

According to the post, the two friends were returning from a restaurant when they realised their vehicle was running low on petrol. They attempted to make it to the nearest fuel station, but the bike stalled in the middle of the road, directly in front of the police station. Concerned about being stranded at night, the pair were approached by a police officer who enquired about the situation.

Instead of reprimanding them, the officer reportedly called two individuals from inside the station and asked them to fetch petrol for the bikers. The user who shared the experience emphasised that the officer handled the situation calmly and without creating discomfort. The gesture, though simple, left a strong impression on the stranded riders, who expressed gratitude for the timely assistance.

The post also highlighted a language barrier between the officer and the bikers, noting that while the officer was not fluent in Hindi and the riders did not speak Kannada, he made an effort to communicate in Hindi to put them at ease. “Such a small moment, but it meant so much,” the user wrote, describing the interaction as reassuring and humane. The account quickly gained traction, prompting a wave of supportive responses online.

Several social media users shared similar experiences, saying that acts of kindness by police personnel often go unnoticed. Some noted that while negative encounters tend to dominate headlines, there are many instances of officers extending help during emergencies. Others encouraged the original poster to formally thank the department on social media platforms, suggesting that positive stories help reinforce trust between citizens and law enforcement agencies.

The episode has sparked broader conversations about community policing and the importance of empathy in public service. While routine in nature, such interventions can significantly shape public perception, especially in large urban centres like Bengaluru. As the story continues to circulate online, it stands as a reminder that small gestures of assistance can leave a lasting impact on those at the receiving end.
