Bengaluru Bus Crushes 11-Year-Old Girl in Fatal Accident
Schoolgirl killed by BMTC bus after bike skids.
An 11-year-old girl, Tanvi Krishna, was fatally run over by a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus near Maruti Nagar, Bengaluru, at around 8:20 am on August 22, 2025. The Class 7 student of Millennium School was riding to school on a two-wheeler with her mother and younger sister when the vehicle skidded, causing Tanvi to fall onto the road. A BMTC bus following closely behind struck her, resulting in her death on the spot, according to police reports.
CCTV footage captured the devastating aftermath, showing Tanvi’s mother in anguish, sitting on the roadside with her younger daughter, overwhelmed by grief. While most passersby stood by as onlookers, one individual was seen attempting to assist the grieving family, seeking help for the mother and her surviving child. The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who are demanding stricter road safety measures in the bustling area.
Yelahanka Traffic Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the accident, including the condition of the road and the bus driver’s actions. Preliminary reports suggest the two-wheeler may have lost balance due to uneven road conditions, a recurring issue in parts of Bengaluru. The BMTC has not yet issued an official statement, but sources indicate the driver is under scrutiny for possible negligence.

As the investigation continues, Tanvi’s family remains in mourning, supported by neighbors and school officials. The incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures in Bengaluru, a city grappling with rapid urbanization and increasing traffic hazards.
