Bengal Elections Exit Polls: Post-6:30 PM April 29 On TV, Websites

Bengal exit polls air after 6:30 PM April 29 voting ends.

Exit polls for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections are set to be released on April 29 after the conclusion of the second and final phase of voting, offering the first indications of how the high-stakes contest may unfold.

According to guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India, exit poll results can only be published after polling ends across all phases. In line with this rule, projections for West Bengal and other poll-bound states will begin to emerge after 6:30 PM on April 29.

The restriction is part of a broader ban on exit polls during the voting period, which was in force from April 9 until the end of polling on April 29. The aim is to prevent any influence on voters and ensure a free and fair electoral process.

Viewers will be able to watch exit poll results across major television news channels and digital platforms, including live broadcasts, websites, and mobile apps of leading media organisations. Coverage typically includes seat projections, vote share estimates, and expert analysis comparing key contenders such as the Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Exit polls are conducted by surveying voters immediately after they cast their ballots, using statistical sampling techniques to estimate broader voting trends. While they provide an early snapshot of electoral sentiment, experts caution that such projections are not always accurate and should be treated as indicative rather than definitive outcomes.

The official results of the West Bengal Assembly elections will be declared on May 4, when votes are counted across all constituencies. Until then, exit polls are expected to dominate political discourse, offering clues about whether the state’s electoral battle is tilting in favour of the incumbent leadership or the opposition.
