BCA Student From Bihar Found Dead In Meerut Hostel, Post-Mortem Ordered

A 20-year-old student was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a hostel room at a private university in the Modipuram area of Meerut, police officials said on Monday. The incident has raised concerns on campus as authorities begin an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The deceased has been identified as Priya, a third-year Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) student and a native of Chhapra. She had been residing in the university hostel while pursuing her studies. According to officials, she was discovered in her room in an unresponsive condition.

The situation came to light when her brother, Vishal, who is also enrolled at the same institution, found her and rushed her to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared her dead upon arrival. Hospital authorities subsequently informed the police about the case.

Police personnel from the Pallavpuram Police Station reached the hostel soon after receiving the alert and conducted a preliminary inspection of the room. Officials stated that no immediate signs of foul play have been confirmed, but the scene is being examined thoroughly as part of standard procedure.

Station House Officer Mahesh Kumar said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. He added that, based on initial observations, the case appears to be a suspected suicide, though no final conclusion has been drawn.

Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation and are awaiting the post-mortem report for further clarity. Police officials said they are also speaking with family members, hostel residents, and university authorities to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
