BACK TO BASE!! PM Modi in Gujarat, Visits Vantara

PM Modi’s two-day Gujarat visit began on Saturday evening with his arrival in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off his Sunday with a visit to Vantara, a sprawling animal rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation facility situated within the Reliance Jamnagar refinery complex in Gujarat’s Jamnagar district. Spanning over 3,000 acres, Vantara stands as a beacon of hope for wildlife, offering a sanctuary for abused and exploited animals, with a particular focus on the welfare of captive elephants.

Launched as an ambitious initiative, Vantara houses more than 2,000 animals representing 43 species. The centre is equipped with state-of-the-art veterinary facilities and enclosures designed to replicate natural habitats, staffed by a dedicated team of over 2,100 professionals. Beyond animal care, Vantara emphasizes community empowerment, providing sustainable livelihood opportunities and training locals in compassionate animal-handling practices.

Following his visit to Vantara, the Prime Minister’s itinerary includes a spiritual stop at the iconic Somnath temple in Gir Somnath district, where he will offer prayers. Later, he will lead a meeting of the Shree Somnath Trust, which oversees the temple’s operations, in his capacity as its chairperson.

PM Modi’s two-day Gujarat visit began on Saturday evening with his arrival in the state. On Monday, he is set to explore the Gir Wildlife Sanctuary during a jungle safari, based out of Sasan. As the ex-officio chairman of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL), he will also chair a key meeting at ‘Sinh Sadan’ with the board’s 47 members, including top officials like the Chief of Army Staff, state representatives, NGO leaders, and chief wildlife wardens.

Wrapping up his engagements in Sasan, Modi will meet with women forest staffers, highlighting their contributions to conservation efforts. This visit underscores the Prime Minister’s commitment to blending wildlife preservation with cultural and administrative responsibilities during his Gujarat tour.
