Assam Governor Pushes for Inclusive Growth in Karbi Anglong
Urges effective scheme implementation, cultural preservation.
Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya emphasized the effective execution of central and state government schemes to foster inclusive development during a two-day visit to Karbi Anglong district on Thursday. Highlighting the synergy of economic growth and cultural preservation, he stated, “True development lies in upholding traditions, language, and culture alongside infrastructural progress for meaningful progress.”
Interacting with Padma Shri awardees, sportspersons, activists, and freedom fighters, Acharya praised their role in safeguarding Karbi Anglong’s heritage. In a meeting with Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang and stakeholders, he urged dedicated efforts for public welfare, aiming to position Assam among India’s top states. He reviewed schemes like Amrit Sarovar, PM Awas Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, stressing inclusive outreach, particularly for the National Social Assistance Programme.
Acharya also focused on boosting the local economy, inquiring about agriculture and fishery sectors, and emphasized empowering self-help groups under the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission. On health, he assessed the Nikshay Mitra initiative under TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, calling for robust implementation to enhance community welfare and drive regional progress.
