Arunachal to Launch Five Schools for Special Needs Children

Initiative to empower CWSN across five districts.

The Arunachal Pradesh government announced plans to establish five dedicated schools for children with special needs (CWSN) in Kameng, Lohit, Siang, Subansiri, and Tirap districts, Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona revealed.

The initiative aims to address the challenges faced by 2,989 CWSN identified in the 2023-24 academic year, per UDISE+ data. “We must support these students who face daily struggles,” Sona said, noting the proposal awaits state cabinet approval.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu hailed the move as a step toward equality and empowerment, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat. “These schools will ensure no child is left behind,” Khandu posted on X.

The facilities will provide tailored education and support to enhance accessibility and inclusion for children with disabilities, fostering their integration into society.
