Arunachal Pradesh Governor and Eastern Air Command Chief Discuss Security and Development
Singh affirmed the Indian Air Force’s commitment to Arunachal’s safety and development.
Air Marshal Surat Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Shillong-based Eastern Air Command, met Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik at Raj Bhavan on Monday to discuss critical strategic and developmental issues, according to an official statement. The talks focused on national security, regional defense preparedness, and disaster management, given Arunachal’s challenging terrain and heightened monsoon-related risks.
Governor Parnaik commended the Indian Armed Forces’ presence in the frontier state and urged Singh to enhance engagement with local youth near Advance Landing Grounds (ALGs). He emphasized that such outreach could inspire pride, discipline, and patriotism, encouraging careers in the armed forces. This aligns with Parnaik’s earlier advocacy on January 27, 2025, for leveraging ALGs for both military and civilian purposes, including tourism and connectivity, while ensuring preparedness for evacuations and medical emergencies during monsoons.
Air Marshal Singh reaffirmed the Indian Air Force’s commitment to Arunachal’s safety and development. The discussion builds on Parnaik’s ongoing efforts to strengthen civil-military synergy, as seen in his June 2025 meetings with the 56 Infantry Division, where he stressed community outreach and infrastructure development.
