Andhra Pradesh DGP Declares Left-Wing Extremism Will Be Eradicated by March 2026

DGP vows total eradication of left-wing extremism.

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta declared on Thursday that the state will completely eradicate left-wing extremism by March 2026 after security forces delivered a crushing blow through the ongoing Operation Sambhav, eliminating 13 heavily armed CPI (Maoist) cadres in two successive high-intensity encounters deep inside the forested terrain of Alluri Sitarama Raju district.

While personally reviewing the operation at Rampachodavaram, Gupta revealed that elite Greyhounds and district special party teams neutralised six Maoists including senior dalam commander Madvi Hidma and five associates in a fierce firefight on November 18 near Kondavada village, followed by the elimination of seven more cadres among them central committee member representative Tech Shankar during a pre-dawn ambush on November 19 near G.M. Valasa village in Maredumilli mandal.

The twin operations resulted in the seizure of an enormous cache of sophisticated weaponry four AK-47 rifles one .303 rifle five single-barrel breech-loading guns one pistol one revolver hundreds of live rounds over 500 electrical and non-electrical detonators several kilograms of Cordex wire laptops communication devices and dozens of kit bags, virtually destroying the insurgents’ operational infrastructure along the Andhra-Odisha border region.

Gupta extended a final appeal to the remaining Maoist cadres and militia members across the state to surrender immediately and avail comprehensive government rehabilitation packages that include financial assistance housing and employment opportunities, warning that those who persist with armed violence will face relentless pursuit and neutralisation as the police intensify the concluding phase of the anti-Naxal campaign.

Addressing media speculation the DGP categorically denied reports of the arrest of CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Thippiri Tirupathi alias Devuji confirming he remains at large while stressing that successive decisive operations including the major June encounter that eliminated three top leaders have systematically dismantled the Maoist hierarchy, leaving the organisation shattered and paving the way for Andhra Pradesh to achieve complete freedom from Naxalism within the next four months.
