Andhra CM Promises Strengthened Police Force, Family Support, and Tech-Driven Crime Prevention

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reaffirmed the state's commitment to empowering its police force during the Police Commemoration Day event at the Sixth Battalion in Mangalagiri on October 21, 2025. Addressing assembled officers and families, Naidu emphasised that a robust and respected police force is essential for fostering security, peace, and economic growth in the state. He announced initiatives to enhance personnel welfare, including healthcare spending and insurance coverage, while urging the force to embrace technology to combat evolving threats like cybercrime. The event, held annually to honour fallen officers, saw Naidu pay solemn tributes to 192 policemen who lost their lives this year, underscoring their role as selfless guardians of society.

Naidu detailed concrete measures already implemented and promised further actions to build morale and capacity. Over the past 16 months, the government allocated Rs 33 crore for police healthcare and Rs 23 crore in insurance payouts to families of 171 deceased officers. He highlighted the completion of recruitment for 6,100 constables and pledged timely promotions to address longstanding grievances. "Will strengthen the police. This government will take the responsibility of increasing the respect of police, providing them with security, and taking care of their families," Naidu declared, framing these efforts as foundational to a "healthy, wealthy, and happy Andhra Pradesh." By prioritising family support and professional security, the administration aims to retain talent and boost operational efficiency in a force often stretched thin by rising demands.

In a forward-looking address, Naidu stressed the transformative potential of technology in modern policing, calling on officers to lead in innovation amid shifting crime patterns. He advocated widespread adoption of tools like CCTV cameras, drones, phone signal tracking, and Google Takeouts to preempt cyber threats. Social media emerged as a particular concern, with Naidu warning that irresponsible posts are inflicting widespread harm and sowing societal discord. "Investments will not come if there is friction in society. Investors desire protection for their investments," he noted, citing Google's USD 15 billion commitment to Visakhapatnam as evidence of confidence in a stable environment. This tech-centric vision aligns with Naidu's broader economic agenda, positioning Andhra Pradesh as an investor-friendly hub through proactive law enforcement.
