Andhra CM Naidu Rolls Out Rs 7,000 Aid for 47 Lakh Farmers Under Annadatha Sukhibhava

Rs 7,000 credited to 47 lakh farmers!

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the ‘Annadatha Sukhibhava’ scheme on Saturday, depositing Rs 7,000 each into the accounts of 46.85 lakh farmers across the state, fulfilling a key promise from the 2024 elections’ ‘Super Six’ pledges. The Rs 3,174-crore initiative, inaugurated at East Veerayapalem village in Darsi mandal, Prakasam district, saw Naidu symbolically handing over cheques to two farmers and releasing Rs 29 crore for Darsi constituency.

The first instalment comprises Rs 5,000 from the state and Rs 2,000 from the Centre’s PM-Kisan scheme. The program aims to provide Rs 20,000 annually per farmer in three phases—Rs 7,000, Rs 7,000, and Rs 6,000—combining the state’s Rs 14,000 contribution with the Centre’s Rs 6,000. The state allocated Rs 2,343 crore, while the Centre contributed Rs 831 crore for this phase.

Targeting small and marginal farmers, the scheme requires land ownership or tenancy, Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, and eKYC verification. Farmers can apply via Rythu Seva Kendras, with status checks available at annadathasukhibhava.ap.gov.in. A toll-free helpline (155251) and digital platforms like the Manamitra app ensure transparency.

Naidu called the launch a “festival for farmers,” emphasizing relief from financial stress and crop insurance burdens, though critics note the recent withdrawal of free insurance schemes has increased costs for crops like cotton. The initiative, delayed from 2024 due to financial constraints, aims to boost agricultural investment and rural prosperity.
