Andhra CM Naidu Launches 'Mustabu' Hygiene Initiative for School Students Statewide

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu launches statewide 'Mustabu' personal hygiene programme for students.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday launched ‘Mustabu’, a personal hygiene programme for students, marking its statewide rollout from Tallapalem in Anakapalli district. The initiative, whose name means “getting ready” in Telugu, was inaugurated at a social welfare residential school. The programme is designed to instill habits of cleanliness and self-care among schoolchildren.

Addressing students at the launch event, Naidu said ‘Mustabu’ aims to strengthen personal hygiene, overall health, and self-confidence. He emphasized that good hygiene practices play a vital role in shaping disciplined and responsible individuals. The Chief Minister noted that such initiatives can be implemented effectively without significant financial expenditure.

The programme was originally conceptualized by Parvatipuram Manyam district collector Prabhakar Reddy, who successfully introduced it among tribal students. Its positive impact on student behavior and well-being led the state government to expand the initiative across Andhra Pradesh. Officials believe the programme will create lasting awareness about personal health from an early age.

Naidu also highlighted that initiatives like ‘Mustabu’ help nurture leadership qualities alongside cleanliness. He encouraged students to adopt healthy habits as part of their daily routine, stressing that early efforts are essential for long-term success. The government, he said, places great trust in students, just as their parents do.

Further, the Chief Minister announced that the state government will conduct health tests for nearly 75 lakh students across Andhra Pradesh. He assured that the government would take responsibility for safeguarding their well-being and future. Reiterating his commitment to education and health, Naidu said the goal is to build a strong foundation for a “golden future” for the state’s younger generation.
