Amit Shah Promises Industrial Revival And Job Push if BJP Wins West Bengal
Amit Shah promises industrial revival, job creation, and women quota during West Bengal election campaign rallies.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday outlined the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) economic and governance priorities for West Bengal, asserting that industrial revival and job creation would be central to the party’s agenda if it comes to power in the state after the upcoming Assembly elections. He made the remarks while addressing election rallies in Habra in North 24 Parganas and later in Saptagram in Hooghly district.
Shah said West Bengal’s primary challenge is unemployment, which he attributed to what he described as a decline in industrial activity and investment over the past 15 years. He claimed that several businesses had shifted out of the state due to adverse conditions, including alleged extortion networks. He added that a BJP government would work to bring such industries back and establish new industrial townships across different regions of the state to boost employment and economic growth.
The Union Home Minister also announced that, if elected, the BJP would reserve 33 per cent of state government jobs for women. He positioned the proposal as part of a broader employment strategy aimed at increasing workforce participation among women and addressing job shortages among the state’s youth.

Shah further said that tackling illegal infiltration would be a key priority for the BJP government, arguing that such migration was affecting local employment opportunities. He alleged that the state administration had not taken sufficient action on the issue, linking it to electoral considerations. These claims were made in the context of broader political criticism directed at the ruling Trinamool Congress.
In his speeches, Shah also launched a strong attack on opposition leaders at the national level, criticising recent remarks made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge about the Prime Minister. He said such statements were inappropriate and reflective of what he described as irresponsible political rhetoric, while also targeting the Congress and its alliance partners in the state.
As campaigning intensifies in West Bengal, the BJP’s messaging has focused on industrial revival, job creation, women’s employment, and border security-related concerns. With elections approaching, the competing narratives between political parties are increasingly centred on governance performance, economic development, and law-and-order issues, setting the stage for a high-stakes electoral contest in the state.
