Flag-hoisting marks campaign to unite citizens before Independence Day.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah hoisted the national flag at his residence in New Delhi on Wednesday, marking the start of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign with his wife, Sonal. In a post on X, Shah described the initiative as a vibrant people’s movement that unites India’s 140 crore citizens, reinforcing patriotism and national pride ahead of Independence Day.
Launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign encourages every household to hoist the tricolour, celebrating India’s independence and honoring the sacrifices of freedom fighters. Shah emphasized that the initiative embodies the collective resolve to build a developed, self-reliant nation, reflecting the dedication and sacrifices of those who fought for India’s freedom.
The campaign aims to transform the national flag from a formal symbol into a personal emblem of pride, fostering a deeper emotional connection among citizens. Since its inception, it has gained momentum, with millions participating by displaying the tricolour at homes, offices, and public spaces. Shah’s participation, widely shared through photos and videos online, has inspired citizens nationwide to join the movement, amplifying its message of unity and patriotism. As India approaches its 78th Independence Day, the campaign continues to strengthen the nation’s bond with its flag and heritage.
