Amit Madholia's Enforcement: 7,500 Illegal Structures Demolished in Gurgaon's Upscale Colonies
Officer Amit Madholia led five-day drive demolishing 7,500 illegal structures in Gurgaon's upscale colonies
A large-scale enforcement drive in Gurugram has led to the demolition of around 7,500 alleged illegal structures across several upscale residential colonies in an operation carried out over five days from April 18 to April 22. The drive, conducted by the city’s Town and Country Planning (Enforcement) Department, targeted encroachments in eight privately licensed colonies, many located along the high-profile Golf Course Road area.
The operation gained attention not only for its scale but also for its on-ground execution, which involved the use of heavy earthmovers to remove structures such as extended lawns, permanent guard rooms, and illegally constructed paved ramps. Officials stated that the drive resulted in the recovery of over 200 kilometres of road space that had allegedly been encroached upon by private property owners over time.
At the centre of the operation was District Town Planner (Enforcement) Amit Madholia, who supervised the entire drive. Seen directing field teams on-site, Madholia played a key role in ensuring that demolition activities were carried out systematically, even in high-value residential zones like DLF Phase 1. His presence on the ground highlighted the administration’s push for strict enforcement action against unauthorised constructions.

The drive was initiated following an interim stay order issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on April 2, which halted stilt-plus-four-storey construction activities in certain areas. Acting on regulatory directives, enforcement teams moved into affected colonies to identify and remove structures that were deemed to be in violation of planning norms.
Officials described the operation as one of the most extensive anti-encroachment actions in recent years in Gurugram, aimed at restoring public infrastructure and ensuring compliance with urban planning regulations. The scale of demolition has also sparked discussions among residents and authorities regarding long-standing encroachment issues in rapidly developing urban neighbourhoods.
