Alisha Abdullah Criticizes BJP Tamil Nadu Unit Over Minority Exclusion
BJP’s Alisha Abdullah criticizes party for excluding Muslims in Tamil Nadu leadership.
In a scathing critique that has sparked controversy, Alisha Abdullah, a prominent car racer and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functionary, has accused the party of excluding Muslims and other minorities from leadership roles in its Tamil Nadu unit. On September 5, 2025, Abdullah voiced her frustration on the social media platform X, highlighting the absence of Muslim or Christian representation in the list of office bearers announced for various party wings on September 4.
Abdullah, who joined the BJP inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Tamil Nadu state chief K. Annamalai, expressed deep disappointment, stating that she believed the party stood for “no religion, no caste, and pure hard work.” As a celebrated sports personality, she described her three years of dedicated work for the BJP as having “gone to trash” due to the lack of inclusivity. “Out of 28 presidents, there are no Christians or Muslims,” she wrote, also alleging that a senior party functionary had insulted her.
The public outcry has drawn attention to issues of diversity and representation within the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit, raising questions about the party’s commitment to inclusivity. Abdullah’s remarks have ignited a debate, with supporters and critics alike weighing in on the implications for the party’s image and outreach in the state.
