Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: NCP Submits Memorandum to CM Fadnavis Demanding Quick Final Report
NCP urges Maharashtra CM Fadnavis to fast-track Ajit Pawar plane crash probe for transparency and closure.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to expedite the investigation into the death of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who died in a plane crash on January 28 in Baramati. A delegation of NCP ministers and MLAs submitted a memorandum demanding that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conclude their ongoing probes and release a comprehensive report at the earliest.
The delegation included Women and Child Welfare Minister Aditi Tatkare and legislators Chetan Tupe, Sulabha Khodke, Sana Malik, Saroj Ahire, Anil Patil, and Shekhar Nikam. According to the party, the pace of the current investigation has raised concerns, and they emphasized the need for transparency and technical clarity regarding the circumstances of the plane crash.
“The state and the nation deserve to know the truth behind this tragedy. We have requested the Chief Minister to follow up with the central agencies so that the final report is made public without further delay,” a senior NCP leader said. The case, due to its high-profile nature, was immediately handed over to the CID, with a parallel CBI inquiry ordered by the Central government to rule out foul play or mechanical failure.

Earlier, NCP-SP legislator Rohit Pawar raised questions about the circumstances of the crash, noting that visibility on the day was limited to 3,000 meters. He claimed the aircraft’s pilot, Captain Kapoor, had informed the owner of VSR Ventures, V.K. Singh, that takeoff was unsafe due to weather, but alleged that Singh instructed him to proceed regardless. Rohit Pawar suggested that Call Detail Records of V.K. Singh could provide evidence of this conversation.
Rohit Pawar also highlighted that medical reports confirmed Captain Kapoor had no traces of drugs, alcohol, or toxins, raising questions about the pressures placed on the pilot. He urged a deeper probe into whether the crash was a genuine accident or influenced by external pressures.
Chief Minister Fadnavis assured the NCP delegation that the state government is committed to a thorough and fair investigation. He noted that while aviation inquiries are technical and take time, he would personally review the status of files with both the CID and CBI, aiming to address concerns and provide closure to the Pawar family and party cadres.
