78% of women in tech see AI as a path to better career opportunities.

A groundbreaking report by jobs and career platform apna.co reveals that 78% of women in India’s technology sector see artificial intelligence (AI) as a pivotal force for accessing better and in-demand career opportunities. Based on responses from over 11,300 women across the country, the report highlights a significant shift toward workplace equity, with women embracing AI to advance their professional prospects.

The study found that 52% of respondents are Gen Z (under 25 years), with nearly 60% from tier II and III cities and two-thirds educated at non-elite colleges. A strong commitment to an AI-driven future is evident, with 58% of women already engaged in AI and machine learning (ML) training through jobs, formal programs, or self-learning, and 24% planning to start soon. This enthusiasm is particularly pronounced among Gen Z (62%) and women from non-elite colleges in tier II-III cities (70%).

Career aspirations are focused on high-impact roles, with 49% aiming to become AI software developers, 19% targeting data science and ML positions, 14% pursuing product management, and 10% focusing on research. “This shows that women in tech are ready to embrace AI—not as a buzzword, but as a real driver of equal opportunity,” said Nirmit Parikh, founder and CEO of apna.co, noting the inspiring trend of 58% already leveraging or learning AI.
