Agra on Edge! 60 Booked for Protest After Pig Head Found in Jama Masjid

60 People were Booked for Protests After Animal Flesh Found in Jama Masjid

Tensions flared in Agra as around 60 individuals were booked for protesting outside the historic Jama Masjid following the discovery of animal flesh on its premises, police reported Saturday. The demonstration erupted after Friday prayers, with agitators demanding harsh punishment for the culprit behind the provocative act.

The incident traces back to late Thursday night when Nazruddin, a resident of Teela Nandram, allegedly placed a packet of animal flesh inside the mosque in the Mantola area. The act was uncovered Friday morning, sparking outrage ahead of weekly prayers. Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Sonam Kumar confirmed a case against Nazruddin, adding, “We’ve also filed an FIR against approximately 60 protesters for causing a disturbance outside the mosque.”

CCTV footage captured Nazruddin arriving on a scooty and leaving the packet inside the mosque. Over 100 police personnel were deployed, seizing the meat for forensic analysis. Tracing the scooty to a local meat shop led to Nazruddin’s swift arrest on Friday. Authorities are now probing whether he acted alone or had accomplices, with Additional Police Commissioner Sanjeev Tyagi hinting at possible action under the National Security Act.

Post-prayer protests saw demands for capital punishment, escalating tensions. Police used mild force to disperse the crowd, later intensifying patrols around the mosque to maintain order. “We’re investigating the intent and potential accomplices,” Tyagi said. Officials urged calm, warning against rumors. With security tightened, Agra remains vigilant to preserve peace in the wake of this unsettling incident.
