Abhijeet Dipke’s ‘No Mobile Today’ Request Gets A Response From His Mother
His mother’s response followed his request for a phone-free day.
Anita Dipke, the mother of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, expressed shock after learning that her son had been detained by Delhi Police aboard an aircraft ahead of the party’s planned protest in the national capital on October 10. Speaking to NDTV in Sambhajinagar, she said her son had asked her not to watch television or check her mobile phone that day. However, she eventually came across footage of him being detained inside the plane after it arrived in Delhi.
Anita said she had anticipated that her son might be detained because of the planned demonstration, but the manner in which the police action took place left her disturbed. She questioned why the authorities had detained him inside an aircraft and described the action as wrong. She also warned that the family would hold the government accountable if anything happened to him. Her remarks came amid heightened tensions surrounding the CJP’s planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
According to Anita, Abhijeet had specifically requested that she stay away from television and mobile phones on the day of the protest. Despite that request, she learnt about the detention through social media footage showing police personnel entering the aircraft. The incident left her concerned about her son’s situation and the circumstances surrounding his detention. Her account offered a family perspective on the police action against the CJP leadership before the demonstration.

Abhijeet was detained along with CJP spokesperson Saurav Das and co-convener Ashutosh Ranka after their flight from Mumbai landed in Delhi. Police personnel entered the aircraft and took the three leaders into custody before they could proceed to the planned protest. They were subsequently moved to separate detention centres in Delhi and Gurugram, according to reports. The party had organised the demonstration to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and raise concerns over the electoral-roll revision process.
Abhijeet’s father, Bhagwanrao Dipke, also criticised the detention and expressed support for his son and the other party members. He questioned the police action and maintained that the family stood firmly behind their efforts. The detentions occurred after authorities denied permission for the planned gathering at Jantar Mantar and imposed security restrictions across parts of Delhi. Anita’s response added a personal dimension to the controversy, as the family sought answers about the manner in which the CJP founder had been taken into custody.
