Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman has partnered with Google Cloud to unveil Secret Mountain, an innovative metahuman digital avatar band that seamlessly blends artificial intelligence, genre-defying music, and immersive storytelling to deliver a revolutionary entertainment experience poised to captivate global audiences. Announced on Wednesday, this ambitious venture leverages Google Cloud’s advanced AI models and robust infrastructure to bring to life hyper-realistic avatars capable of performing and engaging with fans in real time, marking a bold leap into the future of creative expression.
Conceived by Rahman, Secret Mountain introduces six distinct digital avatars, each with a unique cultural and musical identity, including Cara, an Irish singer-songwriter; Zen Tam, a Tamil rapper; and Blessing, an African percussionist and vocalist, among others, whose performances are enriched by AI-driven narratives that transcend traditional music boundaries.
Rahman described the project as a visionary endeavor to “reimagine how music, storytelling, and technology come together to create new experiences for audiences all over the world,” emphasizing the empowering collaboration with Google Cloud as a catalyst for building a “bold new world of entertainment where human artistry and AI technology stand side by side to inspire.”
The technological backbone of Secret Mountain is powered by Google Cloud’s sophisticated AI suite, with tools like Veo 3 driving avatar embodiment and video generation, Imagen and Gemini Flash 2.5 Image crafting stunning visuals, and Gemini 2.5 Pro serving as the conversational “brain” enabling dynamic, real-time interactions with fans, ensuring a scalable and secure platform that upholds stringent governance standards.
