58th Roar And Counting! 'India Will Always Be At Forefront of Protecting Animals:' PM Modi

PM Modi Celebrates India’s 58th Tiger Reserve Milestone with Madhav Addition

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded the addition of India’s 58th tiger reserve, the Madhav Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, calling it “amazing news for wildlife lovers.” The announcement, first made by Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Saturday, marks a significant step in India’s ongoing commitment to wildlife conservation. Modi took to X to express his delight, tagging Yadav’s post and highlighting the country’s rich biodiversity and cultural reverence for nature.

“India is blessed with wildlife diversity and a culture that celebrates wildlife,” Modi wrote. “We will always be at the forefront of protecting animals and contributing to a sustainable planet.” The Madhav Tiger Reserve, located in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district, spans dense forests and grasslands, providing a vital habitat for tigers and other species. This addition bolsters India’s tiger conservation efforts, which have seen the population rise from 1,411 in 2006 to over 3,000 today, thanks to initiatives like Project Tiger.

Yadav, in his announcement, expressed thrill at the milestone, noting that the reserve’s inclusion reflects the government’s dedication to preserving natural heritage. Madhav, named after the historic Madhav National Park established in 1959, joins a network that includes renowned reserves like Corbett, Bandhavpur, and Ranthambore. The move aligns with Modi’s vision of balancing development and ecological sustainability, a theme he has championed globally.

Wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists have welcomed the news, with posts on X echoing Modi’s sentiment. India’s tiger reserves not only protect the endangered big cat but also support biodiversity, tourism, and local livelihoods. As the country cements its role as a global leader in conservation, the Madhav Tiger Reserve stands as a testament to its resolve to safeguard its natural treasures for future generations.
