Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X, stating, “The epicenter was near Udalguri. So far, there has been no report of any major damage or loss of life. We are actively monitoring the situation.”
The quake’s tremors rippled through Udalguri, Sonitpur, Tamulpur, Nalbari, and other districts in Assam, with panicked residents in Guwahati rushing out of homes and buildings. The jolt was also felt in western Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh, where people in the capital, Itanagar, fled houses and shops in alarm.
