₹5,700 Crore Poured into Northeast: 44 Major Projects Already Sanctioned Under PM-DevINE
Centre sanctions ₹5,700 crore worth 44 projects for Northeast under PM-DevINE scheme.
Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, announced that 44 projects worth around ₹5,700 crore have been sanctioned under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for the North East Region (PM-DevINE). Chairing a meeting of the Consultative Committee of the ministry on Wednesday, Scindia highlighted that the initiative is a key driver for infrastructure and socio-economic development in the region.
Scindia described PM-DevINE as the “most important scheme of the ministry,” conceptualized in the Union Budget 2022-2023. The scheme has a total outlay of ₹6,600 crore for the period 2022-2023 to 2025-2026. As of October 31, 2025, three projects worth ₹176 crore have been completed, while 41 projects worth ₹5,500 crore are currently in progress. Further projects worth ₹111 crore have been approved in principle, with more projects worth ₹625 crore in the pipeline.
The minister emphasized that all PM-DevINE projects are monitored through a rigorous multi-layered mechanism. Weekly reviews are conducted to track progress against expected timelines, ensuring transparency and accountability. Scindia stressed that the committee meetings provide an essential platform for continuous dialogue on investment and development in the northeastern states.

Scindia provided specific updates on projects being implemented in Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura. Highlighting the tourism sector, he mentioned that world-class tourist circuits are being developed across selected locations in consultation with state governments. The Sohra Circuit in Meghalaya and Matabari Circuit in Tripura are being initiated on a pilot basis.
The foundation stone for the Meghalaya-Sohra circuit has already been laid, while the Tripura-Matabari circuit is at an advanced stage of approval. Beyond infrastructure, these projects aim to build skilled manpower to enhance tourist experiences and support long-term tourism growth in the region.
With PM-DevINE serving as a major catalyst, the Modi government aims to ensure rapid, outcome-oriented development in the Northeast. Scindia reaffirmed that the ministry is on track to fully utilize the scheme outlay, highlighting the government’s commitment to transforming the region’s infrastructure and socio-economic landscape.
