41,424 Posts Announced: UP Home Guard Recruitment 2025 Begins With Mandatory OTR
UP Home Guard opens applications for 41,424 posts with mandatory OTR, eligibility rules, and reservation details.
The Uttar Pradesh Home Guard Department has opened applications for a massive recruitment drive of 41,424 Home Guard posts, including a 20 per cent reservation for women candidates, marking one of the largest such exercises in recent years. Interested individuals can apply online through the official portal homeguard.up.gov.in until December 17, 2025, with the department stressing that late submissions will be summarily rejected. The initiative aims to bolster auxiliary police support across the state amid rising demands for crowd management, disaster response, and law-enforcement assistance, especially during festivals and elections.
A mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR) process, introduced earlier this year to streamline applications, must be completed before filling the form. Over one lakh candidates have already registered their OTR numbers, which remain valid for future recruitments. First-time applicants who skip this step will see their forms automatically rejected. The application fee is ₹400 for General, OBC, and EWS categories and ₹300 for SC/ST candidates, payable only after uploading all required documents, including photographs, signatures, and educational certificates.
Eligibility criteria remain straightforward: candidates must have passed at least Class 10 (high school) from a recognised board and be aged between 18 and 30 years as of the cutoff date. Relaxation in the upper age limit applies as per government norms for reserved categories. Selection will be based solely on physical efficiency and measurement tests—no written examination is scheduled—with successful candidates entitled to a daily allowance of ₹600 plus dearness allowance. Home Guards serve on a voluntary but compensated basis and can be deployed anywhere in the state alongside regular police forces.

The recruitment comes as Uttar Pradesh continues to expand its security apparatus ahead of major events, including the 2026 Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, where lakhs of Home Guards are traditionally mobilised. Officials have warned applicants to double-check details and complete OTR to avoid disqualification, with the department already reporting high traffic on the portal since the notification was issued on November 18. With just under four weeks remaining, authorities anticipate several lakh applications, underscoring the intense competition for these coveted government-affiliated positions.
