38th Chrysanthemum Show Begins at Terraced Garden, Open Till December 21

Terraced Garden hosts a three-day zero-waste chrysanthemum show featuring 260 varieties grown at MC nurseries.

The 38th Chrysanthemum Show, a much-anticipated annual floral extravaganza, commenced on Friday at the Terraced Garden in Sector 33. Organized by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation as a zero-waste initiative, the three-day event will run until December 21, 2025, and remain open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

UT Administrator and Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria inaugurated the show in the presence of his wife, Anita Kataria; Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla; senior officials; councillors; and residents. Kataria commended the Municipal Corporation for its environmentally responsible approach and highlighted the role of flowers in promoting urban beauty and ecological harmony. He also paid floral tributes at the martyrs’ pillar and unveiled the event's artistically designed brochure.

Over 260 varieties of chrysanthemums, all cultivated at the Municipal Corporation's own nurseries, are on display. The horticulture department's gardeners have created intricate floral models depicting animals, birds, boats, and other figures, adding creative flair to the exhibits.

Prize winners across various categories included Pintu Rawat for "King of the Show", Virinder Sharma for "Queen of the Show", and institutions like Gurukul Sector 20 Panchkula, PGIMER, Panjab University Sector 14, Shivansh Plantation, and St Stephen’s School. The Chrysanthemum Show continues to uphold Chandigarh's "City Beautiful" legacy, combining stunning floral displays with a strong emphasis on sustainability and community involvement. Held at the picturesque 10-acre Terraced Garden since its inception, the event attracts flower enthusiasts and families each winter.
