3 New Trustees Join Ram Temple Trust As First CEO Appointment Nears

Ram Temple Trust adds three trustees as CEO selection nears.

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which manages the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, is set to undergo structural changes, including the appointment of a full-time chief executive officer (CEO) to oversee the temple’s administrative and financial affairs. The move comes months after an alleged theft involving temple donation money triggered a political controversy.

Three new members have been added to the temple trust as part of efforts to strengthen its management structure. The new members are Madan Mohan Pandey from Ayodhya, Mahesh Bhagchandka from Delhi and Nirmala Yadav from Shikohabad.

The trust will appoint the temple’s first full-time CEO, who will be responsible for overseeing its management and financial operations. According to sources, the CEO will be selected from a shortlist of three candidates prepared from an applicant pool of 5,585 people. The decision on who will head the temple administration is expected to be taken at a later stage.

The proposed changes follow legal action related to the alleged theft of donation money. Eight people associated with the counting of donations have been arrested in connection with the case. Trust general secretary Champat Rai had resigned after the incident led to a major political controversy and later told the Special Investigation Team that inadequate security measures at the bank contributed to the theft.

The trust has since been considering measures to strengthen the temple’s administrative framework and ensure tighter management of its financial affairs. A meeting of the trust has been convened on Wednesday to discuss the proposed changes and other matters concerning the functioning of the temple.

Kamalnayan Das, a member of the trust’s religious affairs committee, indicated that the focus should remain on ensuring the smooth functioning of the temple. Ahead of the meeting, he maintained that he did not have information about who would be appointed CEO, while emphasising the need for efficient administration of temple affairs.
