12 Injured in Major Fog-Induced Pile-Up on Delhi-Lucknow Highway
Dense fog causes multi-vehicle pile-up on Delhi-Lucknow highway in Amroha, injuring over 12 people.
A major road accident occurred on Sunday morning on the Delhi–Lucknow National Highway (NH-9) after dense fog severely reduced visibility, resulting in injuries to more than 12 people. The incident took place near Shahwajpur Dor village under the jurisdiction of Gajraula Kotwali police station.
According to officials, extremely low visibility caused nearly 10 vehicles to collide in quick succession, triggering a chain-reaction pile-up. Drivers were reportedly unable to spot vehicles ahead in time, leading to repeated crashes along the fog-covered stretch of the highway.
Police teams and emergency services rushed to the spot soon after the accident was reported. Ambulances transported all the injured to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Authorities said no fatalities have been reported so far, though some victims sustained serious injuries.

The accident led to chaos on the busy highway, with traffic movement severely affected for a prolonged period. Commuters remained stranded as damaged vehicles blocked multiple lanes, further compounding delays during peak morning hours.
To restore normalcy, police deployed cranes to remove the wrecked vehicles from the road. Traffic was gradually resumed after clearance operations. Officials have launched an investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving in foggy conditions.
