10,000 Kg Explosives Haul Recovered in Rajasthan Just Before Republic Day
Massive 9,550 kg ammonium nitrate and detonators seized from a farm in Rajasthan's Nagaur district on Republic Day eve.
Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Rajasthan Police seized a massive cache of explosives from a farm in Nagaur district and arrested one person in connection with the recovery, officials confirmed on Sunday. The seizure has raised serious security concerns given the timing and scale of the haul.
Acting on a specific tip-off, police carried out a late-night raid on Saturday in Harsaur village. During the operation, officers recovered 9,550 kilograms of ammonium nitrate stored in 187 sacks from an agricultural field, Nagaur Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachhawa said.
In addition to the ammonium nitrate, police seized a large quantity of explosive accessories, including nine cartons of detonators, 12 cartons and 15 bundles of blue fuse wire, and 12 cartons along with five bundles of red fuse wire. The materials are commonly used in blasting operations, officials noted.

The accused, identified as Suleman Khan, a resident of Harsaur village, was arrested at the spot. Police revealed that Khan has three prior criminal cases registered against him. Preliminary questioning suggests he was allegedly supplying explosives for both legal and illegal mining activities in the region.
Officials highlighted that ammonium nitrate has been used in several major blast cases in the past, including an explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort in November 2025. Given the sensitivity of the seizure, central security agencies have been informed and are expected to join the investigation.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Explosives Act, and authorities said the probe will focus on tracing the supply chain and identifying potential links to larger criminal or extremist networks. Police have assured heightened vigilance across the state during Republic Day celebrations.
