Frontier Airlines Flight Involved In Runway Pedestrian Collision And Engine Fire Incident
Frontier Airlines flight incident sparks investigation after runway collision and fire.
A Frontier Airlines flight departing from Denver International Airport reportedly struck a pedestrian on the runway during take-off late Friday night, triggering a brief engine fire and prompting an emergency response from airport authorities. The incident involved Frontier Flight 4345, which was bound for Los Angeles.
According to airport officials, the incident occurred at approximately 11:19 pm local time when the aircraft was accelerating for take-off. In a statement, Denver International Airport said the flight “reported striking a pedestrian during takeoff” and confirmed that a short-lived engine fire broke out afterward. The blaze was quickly extinguished by the Denver Fire Department.
The aircraft involved was an Airbus A321 carrying 224 passengers and seven crew members at the time of the incident. Authorities said all passengers were safely evacuated and transported back to the terminal by bus while emergency personnel secured the runway and surrounding area.

Reports citing investigators stated that the individual struck by the aircraft was “at least partially consumed” by one of the plane’s engines. Officials have not yet publicly identified the victim or explained how the person gained access to the active runway area. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Airport authorities confirmed that the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified and that Runway 17L will remain closed while investigators examine the scene. Emergency crews continued operations through the night as officials began reviewing airport security procedures and flight operations linked to the incident.
The accident has raised serious concerns about runway safety and airside security at one of the busiest airports in the United States. Investigators are expected to examine surveillance footage, communication records and airport access systems to determine how the fatal runway breach occurred and whether any procedural lapses contributed to the incident.
