ECINET Row: Congress Calls AI Use in Voter Lists 'Dangerous', Seeks Transparency from EC

Congress has raised questions over the Election Commission’s handling of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with the party seeking greater transparency in the process. Congress Party General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh has questioned aspects of the exercise and the functioning of ECINET, the Election Commission’s digital platform.

Ramesh also raised concerns about the reported use of artificial intelligence in the preparation and processing of voter lists. He described the lack of transparency surrounding the use of AI as a serious concern, arguing that voters and political parties should have clarity on how technology is being used in an electoral process.
