He linked the initiative to efforts to revive India's traditional culture of craftsmanship, referring to the "Aasaari" tradition in Tamil and the broader "Vishwakarma" heritage associated with skilled artisans.
According to Vembu, many smaller Japanese companies have successfully preserved craftsmanship and artisanal values over generations, making them potential partners for businesses in rural India. His visit is intended to explore how such companies can work together and strengthen manufacturing capabilities in smaller communities.
