YSRCP Exposed as BJP’s Secret Ally, Sharmila Claims
Sharmila slams YSRCP for backing NDA, betraying Telugu people.
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila accused the party of being the "B-team" of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging a covert alliance that undermines the interests of the Telugu people. Speaking in Amaravati, Sharmila pointed to YSRCP’s support for the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) Vice Presidential candidate, CP Radhakrishnan, as evidence of their duplicity, especially when contrasted with the INDIA bloc’s nomination of retired judge Justice Sudershan Reddy, a Telugu native.
Sharmila charged that YSRCP, led by former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, projects itself as an opposition force in Andhra Pradesh but “secretly bows” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. “The YSRCP’s mask has been ripped off, revealing the saffron scarf underneath,” she declared in a press release, labeling Reddy as Modi’s “foster son.” She further accused YSRCP, along with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan of Janasena, of acting as “stooges” for Modi, prioritizing political survival over state interests.
The APCC chief alleged that YSRCP’s support for the NDA stems from fear of facing corruption charges related to its five-year rule, suggesting the party is shielding itself by aligning with the BJP. Sharmila criticized YSRCP’s silence on critical national issues like the Manipur violence, the Godhra riots, and Modi’s alleged attacks on democracy, while it has vocally targeted opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. “Supporting the NDA’s candidate over a Telugu candidate like Justice Sudershan Reddy is a betrayal of our people,” she asserted, demanding that YSRCP answer to the public.

The accusations have intensified political tensions in Andhra Pradesh, with Sharmila positioning the Congress as a staunch defender of regional pride. As of now, YSRCP has not responded to the allegations, leaving the political discourse in the state charged with anticipation of further developments.
