White House Ballroom Project Includes Bulletproof, Drone-Proof Underground Complex, Trump Confirms
Trump plans White House ballroom with underground security bunker amid Iran.
Former President Donald Trump has announced plans for a new White House ballroom with an underground “massive complex,” describing the structure as part of enhanced security measures amid ongoing global tensions, according to Fox News. Trump said the project is already underway, with the military involved in constructing the subterranean facility.
Speaking on Sunday, Trump emphasized the protective features of the planned ballroom, including “bulletproof glass” and “drone-proof” ceilings. “Everything is drone-proof and bulletproof, and unfortunately, we're living in an age where that's a good thing,” he said, linking the enhancements to concerns about global security threats.
The proposed ballroom, estimated to cost around $400 million, is intended to expand the White House’s capacity for hosting large-scale events and visiting dignitaries. Trump argued that existing facilities have been insufficient in the past, requiring temporary structures for major gatherings. He added that the project is entirely funded through private donations and his personal contributions, without any taxpayer money.

“All of the money paid is paid by myself and donors…it's all donors. There's not one dime of government money going into the ballroom,” Trump stated. The plan received approval from the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts in February following a unanimous vote. Construction will take place on the site of the former East Wing, which has already been demolished.
Trump also described the ballroom’s architectural design as mirroring the historic White House style, framing it as both a functional and symbolic addition. “I think it'll be the greatest ballroom anywhere in the world. It pays total homage to the White House,” he said, emphasizing the blend of aesthetics and security.
Despite Trump’s assurances, the proposal has drawn political scrutiny. Some Democrats have expressed concerns about donor funding and transparency, calling for stricter oversight of the project. The announcement comes amid heightened U.S.-Iran tensions, adding a broader geopolitical context to the emphasis on advanced security features.
