"We Will Pay, Return Our Mother": Savannah Guthrie's Appeal to Kidnappers
Savannah Guthrie offers payment in a video plea for the safe return of a kidnapped mother.
US television anchor Savannah Guthrie has made a public appeal to the suspected kidnappers of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, saying the family is prepared to pay for her safe return as the search for the missing 84-year-old entered its seventh day. In an emotional video released on Saturday, Guthrie appeared alongside her siblings, urging those responsible to bring their mother home.
“We received your message, and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her,” Savannah Guthrie said in the video posted on social media. “This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.” The appeal followed a message allegedly sent to Tucson-based television station KOLD, according to the FBI’s Phoenix office.
KOLD confirmed it received an email related to the case on Friday but declined to disclose details as federal authorities review its contents. The station is among several media outlets that have reportedly received purported ransom letters over the past week. At least one of the letters made monetary demands and mentioned specific deadlines, though law enforcement has not confirmed their authenticity.

Investigators believe Nancy Guthrie was taken against her will from her home just outside Tucson last weekend. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said DNA testing confirmed that blood found on her front porch belonged to her. Authorities have not named any suspects and have said no one has been ruled out as the investigation continues.
The inquiry has been complicated by technical setbacks. Sheriff Nanos said a doorbell camera at Guthrie’s home was disconnected shortly before she disappeared, and while movement was recorded by the system’s software, no footage could be recovered due to an inactive subscription. “It is concerning and almost disappointing,” Nanos said, noting that investigators are still trying to retrieve any possible data.
Concerns have also grown over Nancy Guthrie’s health, as authorities say she requires daily medication and has a pacemaker, along with a history of heart issues and high blood pressure. The case has drawn national attention, with President Donald Trump stating that federal authorities are assisting and that investigators are following “very strong” leads. As searches continue in Guthrie’s neighborhood, her family has renewed its plea, hoping for her safe and immediate return.
