WE WILL HUNT YOU DOWN: Kash Patel Gets to Work with Thunderous Pledge
Kash Patel, New FBI Director, Vows to Pursue Threats and Remake Agency
Following the Senate nod on Thursday, newly appointed Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Indian-origin former federal prosecutor and Trump loyalist Kash Patel expressed his gratitude and vowed to rebuild the agency into one that is "transparent and accountable".
As he strode into the FBI headquarters, the Director addressed a packed press room, his voice steady and unyielding. “To those who seek to harm Americans — consider this your warning. We will hunt you down in every corner of this planet.” The words landed like a thunderclap, a promise etched in the steel of his resolve. He promised to "rebuild" the FBI, emphasising transparency, accountability, and restoring public trust.
Patel, a fierce Trump loyalist, had spent years railing against what he called the “deep state” — a shadowy cabal he accused of undermining justice. Now, with the FBI’s reins in his hands, he vowed to reshape it into a weapon of accountability.
The US Senate narrowly confirmed Patel in a 51-49 vote late yesterday. In a contentious confirmation process, Democrats unanimously opposed Patel, citing concerns over his lack of management experience and past politically charged statements, including his criticisms of the FBI's handling of investiations such as the Trump-Russia probe. They argued that the FBI director should remain apolitical. Patel's nomination eventually succeeded due to the Republican Senate majority.
This appointment has sparked significant attention due to his controversial background and his outspoken criticism of the FBI, an agency he now helms. Patel’s book, Government Gangsters, had named 60 alleged conspirators — including former officials, agents, even journalists. Would he wield the bureau’s power to settle scores? He’d pledged no “retributive actions,” but his fiery rhetoric suggests otherwise.
