Viral Buffalo Nicknamed “Donald Trump” Transferred To Bangladesh Zoo Before Eid Sacrifice

Bangladesh rescues viral Trump-lookalike buffalo ahead of Eid.

A buffalo that went viral on social media for its unusual resemblance to former U.S. President Donald Trump has been rescued from an Eid al-Adha sacrifice and relocated to the Bangladesh National Zoo, according to reports from Reuters and local media. The 700-kilogram animal gained widespread attention online after images and videos circulated showing a distinctive white forehead patch and hair pattern that viewers compared to Trump’s signature hairstyle. The viral fame quickly turned the buffalo into a social media sensation ahead of the Eid festivities.

The animal was originally owned by farmer Zia Uddin Mridha, 38, who reportedly sold it prior to Eid amid rising public interest. However, government authorities later intervened at the last moment and decided to relocate the buffalo to ensure its safety and manage the unusual attention it had received. Officials stated that the decision was taken due to security concerns and the scale of public fascination surrounding the animal, which had attracted millions of views across social platforms.

Following the intervention, the buffalo was transferred to the Bangladesh National Zoo in Dhaka, where it has been placed in a designated enclosure for public viewing. Zoo officials said the relocation was intended both to protect the animal and to allow visitors to observe it safely. The buffalo is expected to become one of the zoo’s more popular attractions due to its viral reputation, drawing increased footfall and media interest in the coming weeks.

The animal’s unusual popularity began when social media users noticed its distinctive appearance and began referring to it as the “Donald Trump buffalo.” Its owner previously said the nickname started as a joke within his family, after noticing the animal’s hair pattern. Visitors who saw the buffalo in person also contributed to the viral spread, with many commenting that its facial structure and appearance closely resembled the former U.S. president, while also noting its calm temperament.

The buffalo’s rise to fame has also highlighted broader discussions around rare livestock and animal virality in South Asia. According to the owner, albino buffaloes are relatively rare in the region and are generally known for their gentle nature when not provoked. Reports also noted that another buffalo on the same farm, weighing over 750 kilograms and nicknamed “Benjamin Netanyahu,” has also attracted attention for its energetic behaviour. As the Eid season concludes, the “Donald Trump buffalo” remains a unique example of how social media can transform ordinary livestock into global curiosities.
